EMIL is advancing sustainability by implementing green initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
1.Installation of Solar Panels: At EMIL, we remain firmly committed to minimizing our environmental footprint by actively transitioning toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. As part of this effort, we have deployed 187 kW of installed solar power capacity across multiple outlets. This shift to on-site renewable energy has played a crucial role in reducing our dependence on diesel generators and traditional fossil-fuel-based electricity, thereby lowering operational emissions and improving energy efficiency.
Furthermore, our collaboration with the Edge Group is accelerating our renewable energy journey. Through this partnership, we are working to systematically expand solar infrastructure across our retail network. Additional solar panel installations are being rolled out in a phased manner, enabling us to enhance clean energy adoption, cut carbon emissions, and strengthen the overall sustainability performance of our operations. By scaling up renewable energy capacity, EMIL aims not only to reduce its environmental impact but also to contribute meaningfully to broader climate action goals and long-term sustainable growth.
2. Installation of Smart Energy Meter: To further enhance our energy efficiency initiatives, we have implemented smart electricity meters across our facilities. These advanced meters provide real-time monitoring of power consumption, allowing us to gain precise insights into energy usage patterns at each location. By leveraging this data, we are able to identify areas of high energy demand, detect inefficiencies, and make informed decisions to optimize electricity consumption. This proactive approach not only helps in reducing unnecessary energy wastage but also contributes to lower operational costs and a decreased carbon footprint. The integration of smart metering technology aligns with EMIL’s broader commitment to sustainability, enabling us to continuously track, manage, and improve our energy performance while supporting the transition toward a greener and more sustainable operational model.
3. Deployment of LED Lighting: As part of our commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability, we have replaced conventional lighting systems across all our facilities with energy-efficient LED lighting. These advanced LED systems consume significantly less electricity while providing the same or better illumination, resulting in substantial reductions in energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions. The transition to LED lighting also offers longer operational life, lower maintenance costs, and improved lighting quality, enhancing both sustainability and operational efficiency. By systematically adopting LED technology, EMIL is not only minimizing its environmental footprint but also demonstrating a tangible commitment to reducing energy demand and supporting global climate action efforts.
4. Sustainable Packaging: In line with our commitment to environmental responsibility, we have transitioned from conventional plastic bags to biodegradable cloth bags across all operations. These bags are durable, reusable, and environmentally friendly, helping to significantly reduce the reliance on single-use plastics throughout our supply chain. By adopting sustainable packaging solutions, EMIL is actively minimizing plastic waste, lowering our environmental footprint, and promoting a circular approach to resource use. This initiative not only supports broader environmental sustainability goals but also encourages responsible consumption and disposal practices among our customers and stakeholders, reinforcing our role as a conscientious and eco-conscious organization.
